How It Began
Abigail Monasebian and Richard Wait Harrod met as alumni of the Paideia Institute’s "Living Greek in Greece" (LGiG) summer program in Athens, Greece. Motivated by their classical and political journeys throughout LGiG, they sought a way to honor what the program had taught them, and strived to generate a meaningful impact through scholarly work produced by the youth. Thus, The Politeia Review was born.
Richard Wait Harrod
Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief
Richard Wait Harrod is a sophomore at The Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Richard is an adept classics and Latin scholar, dedicated to providing students everywhere with imperative resources and inspiration to pursue ancient studies. Being that the realms of Latin and classics are extremely under-represented fields of study in his community, Richard founded Red Stick Classics to inspire and support other up-and-coming classics students to pursue the field. He studied ancient philosophy and the Quest for Immortality in the Ancient World at the Brown University Pre-collegiate program. Richard uses programs such as Aequora and Ascanius to democratize Latin in his community, and believes that paying homage to ancient literary works of the past can positively impact the way that young historians consider the future.
